64 of the 96 bulbs in the 'chandeleirs' below the arches in the church are not working. This has most likely happened gradually over a period of time, but has now come to the point where the low lighting level in the church is a health and safety concern.
Contractors have been approached and the options available are to re-lamp the fittings with the existing flourescent bulbs and replace ballast where necessary. This would give a couple of years before they would start to fail again.
The alternative option is to retrofit the existing fitting with LED lamps which would both reduce our energy costs and give a much longer lamp-life. There is little difference in cost so It is hoped that this work can begin as soon as possible. In the meantime, apologies for the very poor lighting.
